To look at me you would never think I would inspire someone to exercise unless it was from the perspective of “I’m going to run 10 miles today because I never want to be a fat cow like HER!”
But tonight at my Weight Watchers meeting someone said I inspired her to start exercising. She’s heard me talking about how much I’m enjoying bike riding and how I never thought I would be able to ride as far as I have been (36 miles last Saturday – but my legs were rubber and I had to walk part of the last 2 miles – but still – that’s about 30 miles further than I ever thought I’d be able to go!).
Anyway, she said that she feels she can do it because I’m able to do it. So she went out and bought herself a new bike this past weekend as a present to herself, has already gone on one short bike ride, and was asking me for suggestions on trails to ride when she goes out again this weekend!
I didn’t tell her, but she completely made my day!
It’s a pretty great feeling to think that I’m helping other people believe they can get healthier and in better shape at the same time I’m doing it.
I was so energized by her comments that after the meeting I decided to go for a walk and to really enjoy the summer evening with its sights and sounds. I earned myself 5 activity points on top of the 3 I earned earlier today when I worked out at Curves! How cool is that?
