Starbucks Etiquette – What’s Your Opinion?

So I’m currently at Starbucks enjoying a nonfat Pumpkin Spice latte (they have syrup leftover from the holiday season and are using it up so I’m taking advantage and having one while I still can).

A guy came in about 5 minutes ago and sat a couple tables away from me. Apparently he thinks it’s okay to have the speaker volume on his computer turned up loud enough for himself and the rest of us around him (which happens to only be me right now) to hear the sports scores updates he’s listening to.

Shouldn’t he be polite and either use earphones or read the scores instead of listening to them? Yes, I am assuming he can read.

My passive aggressive glares in his direction have not helped (he’s too engrossed in his sports stuff to notice) so is it okay for me to politely ask him to turn the speakers down? (at least I’ll try to be polite.)

Or should I just tell him that his black and tan patterned socks DO NOT look good with his navy blue pants?
